Every filmmaker has a million stories to tell about the films they’ve made, but very few ever get a director’s commentary. Reel Talk is a monthly screening series during which we select up to five films to program in a shorts block at the historic Tara Theatre in Atlanta, GA. After the films have screened, rather than hosting a Q&A, we will run those films back on mute, and each director will come on stage to do a live director's commentary! Once the screening and commentary is complete, The Tara will host a one hour mixer in the lobby, where audience members get the chance to ask the filmmakers any burning questions about their work, and our filmmakers get to connect with our budding community of fellow filmmakers and film lovers!

Filmmakers interested in participating in Reel Talk must either hail from or have a home base in Atlanta, Georgia OR be able to make it to Atlanta in time of the screening. At this time we are generally prioritizing films from Atlanta-based/Georgia-based filmmakers. This requirement is so that we can give back to the local Atlanta community that shaped us into the filmmakers we are…and that we can guarantee that you are able to attend and talk about your wonderful films!

The maximum runtime for submission is 20 minutes. If you submit without meeting this necessary criteria, you will be disqualified from consideration and won’t be issued a refund.
We accept any type of project: live-action, documentary, music video, animation, etc. We also accept any and all genres, as long as the project is under 20 minutes!
We do not disqualify any films based on premiere status or date of completion. Feel free to dust off an old masterpiece you’re proud of!
